Senior Infrastructure Engineer (DV Cleared) needed for our government client based in Newbury (though there is capacity for some of the work to be done remotely).
This is a predominantly on-site Police-environment role and candidates must have active DV Clearance with eligibility to undergo NPPV3 vetting, if necessary.
The Senior Infrastructure Engineer will lead the design, implementation, and migration of a new enterprise virtualisation platform within a secure policing environment.
The successful consultant will be responsible for delivering a resilient two-site
Microsoft Hyper-V infrastructure , migrating legacy physical and virtual server estates, implementing a Microsoft PKI solution, and supporting security remediation activities.
Key Responsibilities will include designing and implementing a highly available two-site Microsoft Hyper-V cluster , migrating approximately 40 servers (physical, VMware, and Hyper-V) to the new platform and configuring clustering, failover, replication, networking, storage, quorum, and resilience services.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Extensive experience designing and deploying
Microsoft Hyper-V clusters in enterprise environments.
- Strong expertise in
- Windows Server ,
- Failover Clustering ,
Storage Replica , and High Availability solutions.
- Proven experience migrating physical and virtual server estates from VMware and legacy platforms.
- Deep understanding of
Microsoft PKI , Certificate Services, certificate lifecycle management, and auto-enrolment.
- Strong Active Directory, DNS, Group Policy, and infrastructure security knowledge.
- Experience supporting penetration testing and vulnerability remediation programmes.
- Excellent technical documentation and stakeholder engagement skills.
Essential Requirements
- Active
Developed Vetting (DV) clearance.
- Willingness to undertake additional
NPPV3 Police Vetting if required.
- Ability to work predominantly on-site within a secure policing environment.
- Previous experience delivering infrastructure projects within highly regulated or secure environments is highly desirable.
