Head Resourcing is pleased to be working with a company who is building and evolving a cloud platform that is secure, resilient, and quick to change, while staying developer-friendly and sustainable. This position sits within their Google Cloud Platform function and focuses on engineering and operating core GCP networking and connectivity capabilities at enterprise scale.
You’ll be a senior, hands-on engineer who helps drive delivery of new platform features, supports live services through incident and problem management, and improves reliability through automation and Infrastructure as Code. The role includes hybrid working (minimum two days per week in an office) and participation in an on-call rota, with occasional out-of-hours work.
Key skills / experience:- Deep GCP networking expertise at enterprise scale, including areas such as Dedicated Interconnect, VPC peering, Cloud Router, firewall policy, Cloud DNS, Cloud NAT IAM considerations and VPC Service Controls.
- Awareness of how networking supports workloads such as GKE, Compute Engine, Cloud SQL, Storage, and data/AI services.
- Proven delivery experience on networking-heavy initiatives (build, rollout, scaling, optimisation, refresh) across non-production and production environments.
- Strong DevOps / SRE background, with practical experience delivering and improving CI/CD pipelines using tools such as Git, Terraform Cloud, HashiCorp Vault, Harness, Jenkins.
- Demonstrated ability to own and operate platform services: Incident response and problem management focused on improving stability and connectivity.
- Driving preventative improvements through automation, monitoring, and standardisation.
- Solid Infrastructure as Code capability: Advanced Terraform skills and experience engineering full lifecycle cloud networking products as code.
- Scripting and automation skills in Bash and/or Python.
- Experience collaborating with network, systems, security, architecture, and product teams to deliver designs, dependencies, and engineering artefacts.
- Comfortable working in environments with strong control, risk, and security requirements, ensuring engineering work aligns to governance and compliance expectations.
- A mindset of continuous learning staying current with modern cloud practices, tooling, and ways of working.
Hybrid 2 days per week: (Manchester, Leeds, Bristol, Halifax or Edinburgh)
Salary: up to £80k depending on experience + Benefits
