Lead the data platform. Own the insight. Set the direction. My client is hiring a Data Lead to own their end-to-end data and analytics capability - from Azure-based data engineering through to Power BI and Fabric-driven insight. This is a senior role for someone who combines deep technical credibility with the ability to set strategy, lead teams, and influence how data is used across the business.
What you'll be doing:
- Owning the data and analytics strategy, aligned to business goals
- Leading the design and evolution of a Microsoft Azure data platform
- Providing architectural oversight across Databricks, Fabric, data pipelines, and warehousing
- Taking full ownership of Power BI and the semantic layer (models, DAX, performance, governance)
- Defining standards for data modelling, quality, security, and cost efficiency
- Managing and mentoring senior data engineers and BI specialists
- Working closely with senior stakeholders to turn complex requirements into scalable data solutions
This is a role with real authority - you'll shape the roadmap, influence tooling decisions, and set the technical bar.
What we're looking for:
- You'll likely come from a background as a Senior Data Engineer, Senior Power BI Engineer, or Analytics Lead, with strong experience in Microsoft's data ecosystem.
- You'll bring:
- Hands-on experience with Azure data services
- Strong knowledge of Databricks (ingestion, transformation, optimisation)
- Experience with Microsoft Fabric (or a strong interest in leading its adoption)
- Advanced SQL and data modelling skills (dimensional / star schemas)
- Deep Power BI expertise (semantic models, DAX, RLS, performance tuning)
- Experience setting technical direction and leading delivery
- The confidence to challenge requirements and design for the long term
You don't need to be hands-on every day - but your team should trust your technical judgement.
Why join?
- A genuine opportunity to own and shape the data function
- Modern Microsoft data stack with scope to influence architecture
- Senior-level visibility and decision-making authority
