About us

At East Midlands Academy Trust (EMAT), we believe great leadership makes a difference. We are keen to connect with passionate Science Teachers and current or aspiring Science Leaders who want to inspire others, drive improvement and help shape the future of science education across our Trust.
Whether you are an established Head of Science looking for your next challenge or an experienced Science Teacher ready to take the next step into leadership, this is an opportunity to explore how you could contribute to developing the science curriculum across EMAT, sharing best practice and improving outcomes for pupils across our academies.
With opportunities to explore leadership responsibilities and potential TLR positions, we want to hear from people who are ambitious for themselves, their colleagues and the pupils they support.

About EMAT

EMAT is an exciting, innovative, and growing organisation where we strive to do things differently, aligned with our core values and purpose: that every child deserves to be the best they can be. Our Trust was incorporated in July 2012 to establish, maintain, manage, and develop academies and free schools as world-class centres of excellence. We are a collaborative partnership that currently includes an all-through school in Northampton, a secondary school in Oundle, and 10 primary schools in Northamptonshire, Oxfordshire and Milton Keynes. By working for our Trust, you’ll be able to take advantage of a wealth of professional development and support opportunities, as well as a range of employee benefits.

Job Description

Who are we looking for?

We are interested in hearing from people who:

• Have a passion for Science and a clear vision for excellent teaching and learning.

• Can inspire curiosity, challenge thinking and raise aspirations.

• Are committed to developing colleagues, sharing effective practice and supporting professional growth.

• Want to contribute to Trust-wide science curriculum development, helping shape curriculum approaches, resources and teaching practice across our academies.

• Can identify opportunities for improvement and help raise standards and pupil outcomes.

• Are keen to collaborate across schools and contribute to wider Trust priorities.

• Are ambitious for their own development and interested in exploring future leadership opportunities, including roles with TLR responsibilities.

You may already be a Science Leader looking for your next challenge, or an experienced Science Teacher ready to take that next step. We are particularly interested in hearing from people who want to make an impact beyond their own classroom and contribute to the development of Science education across EMAT.

Develop your career with EMAT

We are committed to supporting our colleagues to develop their expertise and progress in their careers. Opportunities across our growing Trust can offer access to professional development, collaboration with colleagues across different academies and the chance to influence teaching, learning and curriculum development on a wider scale.

For colleagues looking to progress into leadership, there may be opportunities to take on additional responsibilities, contribute to Trust-wide priorities and explore positions with a Teaching and Learning Responsibility (TLR).

Our employee benefits include continuous professional development, leadership development opportunities, the Teachers’ Pension Scheme, a confidential 24-hour Employee Assistance Programme, health and wellbeing benefits, an employee lifestyle savings platform and generous family leave.

Let’s start a conversation

You do not need to be looking for a new role right now. If you are passionate about Science teaching and leadership, interested in curriculum development and keen to explore what a future with EMAT could look like, we would welcome an informal conversation.

Your next opportunity could be about more than leading a department. It could be about helping shape science education across EMAT.

To register your interest, contact hannah.fajemiyo@central.emat.uk and we will arrange a tour at one of our schools where you can meet with the team.

Safeguarding and equal opportunities

EMAT is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Any appointment will be subject to appropriate pre-employment checks, including references and Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) checks, in line with our safer recruitment procedures.

We are an equal opportunities employer and welcome applications from all suitably qualified candidates.

Benefits

  • Continuous professional development and training opportunities.
  • Career and leadership opportunities within our growing family of schools.
  • A confidential 24-hour Employee Assistance Programme.
  • Access to the Local Government Pension Scheme
  • A corporate eye care plan.
  • Flu jabs for all staff.
  • Cycle to work scheme.
  • Access to health and wellbeing benefits, including an online GP.
  • Access to an employee lifestyle savings platform.
  • Generous family leave.
  • 40 days annual leave entitlement.
