Overview

I have a cluster of GP Practices in Wick/Thurso, Highlands needing locum GP cover for the following weeks:

  • W/C 2nd February
  • W/C 9th February
  • W/C 16th February
  • W/C 23rd February
  • W/C 9th March
  • W/C 16th March
  • W/C 23rd March

Good daily rates (paid via payroll). You would need to arrange accommodation if required; there are nice air B&Bs close by.

Hours are Mon - Fri 8am - 6pm, there is no on call. With approximately 7,500 patients, the Wick practice is a unique combination of exciting medicine in a tranquil part of Scotland.

GP appointments are 15 minutes and are a mix of telephone, face-to-face and video (Near Me) consultations. Appointment numbers are capped. You will be asked to do some Docman work and there may be a requirement to undertake a duty doctor role, consisting of telephone triage and face-to-face appointments. Typically, 11 patients in the morning and 12 patients in the afternoon. Break is from 11am-2pm, this is when Docman, referrals, scripts, home visits and lunch can be done.

They are very well supported by Caithness General Hospital (CGH) and links with Raigmore Hospital in Inverness are good. Full laboratory services are available within CGH as well as diagnostic radiology facilities. Their MDT is well established. They have excellent ANPs, Paramedic, First Contact Physios, Pharmacy teams, support, Advanced Mental Health nurse as well as Practice Nursing and HCAs. You will be working alongside other GPs/ANP/PN/HCA/Pharmacists/Pharmacy Techs. The Clinical Support team are very experienced and supportive.

  • Adhere to 15-minute appointment slots and capped appointment numbers.
  • May include Docman duties, referrals, scripts, and home visits.
  • Potential duty doctor role involving telephone triage and face-to-face appointments.
  • Typical daily workload includes approximately 11 patients in the morning and 12 in the afternoon.
  • Coordinate with the MDT and practice team as described above.
