Opportunity working as part of a skilful multi-discipline team, Head Medical are seeking a Consultant in Orthopaedic Surgery who specialises in Lower Limb Orthopaedics to work for a leading private hospital in the UK. Based in the City of Plymouth, Devon, as part of their professional, friendly and compassionate team you will do everything you can to ensure the patient’s treatment is of the highest standard. This organisation focuses on ensuring that patients receive high-quality treatment quickly, in clean and comfortable surroundings.

You will be part of a team providing an onsite orthopaedic surgical service to meet the needs of patients treated. The centre hosts a day surgery unit and outpatient department which offers minor orthopaedic procedures. The successful appointee will be required to perform orthopaedic surgical procedures and clinics on patients referred to the Hospital, including:

  • Joint surgery: Primary knee arthroplasty
  • Joint surgery: Primary hip cemented & hybrid
  • Joint surgery: Primary hip uncemented
  • Minor orthopaedic surgery to include Arthroscopy of the knee
  • Joint aspiration and/or injection and other Minor Musculoskeletal procedures
  • Other minor procedures possibly including forefoot surgery

Whilst a typical full-time working week will comprise 40 hours (8 PAs), working patterns will be flexible over primarily a Monday to Saturday rota.

CQC rated good. Medium-sized hospital, features three operating theatres, a day surgery theatre, and an endoscopy suite, along with diagnostic imaging and physiotherapy departments. Currently has 30 in-patient beds. As the third largest county in England, Devon covers a lot of ground, serving a population of around 803,000 people.
