Opportunity
Working as part of a skillful multi-discipline team, Head Medical are seeking a Consultant in ENT to come to work for a leading private hospital in Hampshire, England.
The surgeon will participate in the outpatients prior to surgery and in all aspects of the operative care of the patients.
It is anticipated that the surgeon will spend the equivalent of at least three days in the operating theatre and two days a week in a combination of outpatient assessment; administrative, management, and clinical governance duties.
The final allocation of patient contact time, including theatre and Pre-Admission/follow-up clinics, will be agreed upon in discussion with the Hospital Director of the Treatment Centre.
The post holder will be required to perform ENT procedures on patients referred to the treatment centre, working in accordance with treatment centre protocols and working practices.
Types of procedures:
Mouth intermediate:
- Tonsillectomy, Laryngoscopy, and other intermediate mouth procedures
Inter Nose:
- Septoplasty, Polypectomy, and other intermediate nasal procedures
Minor Ear:
- Including excision of lesion
Major Ear:
- Tympanoplasty, Mastoidectomy, and possibly some more complex procedures
Major Nose:
- Intranasal ethmoidectomy, Rhinoplasty, and possibly some more complex procedures
A typical job plan will comprise of 40 hours scheduled clinical sessions/theatre lists/hours per week with flexible elements and 8 hours of unscheduled activity. The direct clinical care components and supporting professional activity allowance will be discussed in detail with the successful candidate upon appointment and will result in an agreed job plan which will be included with the formal offer of appointment.
A commitment to provide out-of-hours on-call cover on a rota basis will be required.

The Hospital

- Medium-sized hospital, featuring three operating theatres, a day surgery theatre, and an endoscopy suite, along with diagnostic imaging and physiotherapy departments.
- Currently has 25 in-patient beds
- Outpatients department sees patients from all specialties available within the hospital such as ear, nose, and throat (ENT), general surgery, orthopaedic surgery, urology, ophthalmology, gynaecology, and pain management.
Requirements to Apply:
- Clinical skills in all aspects of ENT surgery
- Able to offer expert clinical opinion on a range of problems within ENT surgery
- Full and Specialist GMC Registration in relevant specialty
- UK Experience as a Consultant
- FRCS (ENT) or appropriate specialist qualification
- Relevant CCT or equivalent
- Past record of academic achievement
