The Finance Business Partner will provide leadership and professional expertise for a portfolio of transformation activities across the organisation, supporting the planning and delivery of strategic projects and reporting on financial performance of transformation plans.

The role involves:

  • A critical role in the financial planning, monitoring, reporting and delivery of business cases.
  • Working closely with senior stakeholders across the organisation to ensure that all Transformation activities are embedded within the overarching financial plans and track the associated financial benefits whilst highlighting risks and opportunities as they arise.

Responsibilities include:

  • Setting out the financial planning process required to create financial plans as part of the Transformation programme to deliver the new strategy, aligning these to the overall strategic financial plans.
  • Mapping the desired financial outcomes across the portfolio of transformation projects and ensuring a clear and consistent approach with all financial activities.
  • Ensuring that all financial variables have an owner responsible for providing the authoritative source of information for the financial calculations, ensuring that the data is clearly defined and accurate.
  • Clearly communicating the financial plans and expected progress against these with all stakeholders, including establishing a reporting structure that includes regular meetings with project leads and other stakeholders to understand progress and provide support where necessary.
  • Delivering a regular detailed collated plan to executive stakeholders with analysis and insight of the risks and opportunities presented by the overarching transformation plans.
  • Supporting the Business Case development process for all Transformational Projects, including being the lead for collating, testing and challenging all financial aspects of the Business Case.

Skills and experience required:

  • Qualified Accountant with significant experience operating at a similar level in a large and complex organisation.
  • Strong Excel skills, able to work with large datasets and have a proven track record of manipulating data to produce high-level insightful analysis.
  • Able to influence senior management and collaborate in decisions that have a strategic impact whilst assessing risks and opportunities which can be modelled on past performance and/or future plans.
  • Evidence of ability to research and solve expansive problems using initiative and creativity, identifying and proposing both practical and innovative solutions.
  • Experience in the financial management of a portfolio of projects, providing support and financial leadership to a wide range of key stakeholders.
  • An excellent communicator with the ability to build rapport with a range of finance and non-finance persons across the organisation.
