We have an exciting opportunity for a Container Terminal Manager to lead operations at our Christchurch Container Terminal.

KiwiRail moves around a third of Aotearoa’s export goods across the country - from temperature-controlled and containerised freight to bulk commodities. About the role
- Manage terminal-based staff planning and day-to-day container terminal functions
- Champion a strong safety culture and ensure full operational compliance
- Drive On-Time Performance and consistently deliver for our customers
- Lead, coach and develop terminal staff supporting their performance and training
- Influence positive outcomes, solve operational challenges and keep the terminal running smoothly
- Bring clear decision-making, strong relationship-building skills and an understanding of what it takes to meet service commitments in a fast-paced freight environment
- Work Monday–Friday day shift with an on-call component supporting 24/7 operations
What you will bring

- Strong leadership skills and the ability to build high performing teams
- Sound experience in a unionised environment is preferred
- Exceptional problem solving and organising abilities to achieve high-end productivity results
- Proficient computer skills with experience using a range of customised software packages
- Proven ability to drive Health, Safety and Wellbeing and the ability to grow and shape our safety leaders
- A strong customer focus with stakeholder relationship building skills
- Experience in freight or transport
- A full clean driver’s Licence with Class 2 and F endorsement is preferred
