As a Project Architect at HDR you will work on projects in a variety of sectors with a focus on Social Infrastructure projects. You’ll be working closely with the multi-disciplinary design teams, clients, and contractors throughout our Global Practice with a focus in the United Kingdom and European regions.
In the role of Project Architect, we will count on you to have knowledge of technical design concepts, design management skills, digital technologies, and design workflows. You will perform layout and detailing on architectural projects. You will establish owner/client and internal meetings and participate in reviews with governing agencies for code compliance. You will manage and undertake design activities and the production of design information. You will conduct work sessions at the project site in conjunction with the Project Manager and other disciplines. You will review architectural documents for conflicts with all disciplines, perform QA/QC and technical reviews, and write and edit architectural specifications. You will coordinate with and assist affected disciplines with addenda, RFIs, CPRs, and change orders, incorporate agreed-upon changes into project documents, provide construction contract administration as needed, and perform other duties as required.
Required qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Architecture or a closely related field and registration as an Architect (ARB Registered Architect).
- You must be proficient in Autodesk Revit and familiar with related tools and processes.
- Experience in the preparation and layout of architectural contract documents and specifications is required.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential, as are strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
- You should demonstrate strong graphic presentation skills, have an understanding and experience with various building contracts, and possess strong knowledge of building regulations and good planning skills.
- A positive attitude and commitment to being an active participant in our employee-owned culture is required.
Preferred qualifications
- Master’s degree in Architecture and a minimum of five years of post-qualification experience working on complex and diverse architectural projects in social infrastructure, such as health, life sciences, education, and civic or community projects.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are required, with the ability to facilitate effectively with clients and multidisciplinary teams.
- You should demonstrate exceptional ability to manage busy workloads efficiently and effectively.
- Experience with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and project scheduling tools, is expected.
- Knowledge of Photoshop, Illustrator, SketchUp, and 3D Studio Max is advantageous but not required.
- Experience with Rhino and Grasshopper is also preferred.
