Bid Manager Overview
In the role of Bid Manager, we’ll count on you to:
- Manage the full bid lifecycle from inception to submission, ensuring high‑quality, compliant, and compelling proposals.
- Act as one of the Bid Managers in the team, working closely with leadership, Project Managers, technical teams, marketing, and graphics resources.
- Be comfortable working in a busy environment, balancing multiple tasks while meeting tight deadlines.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage bids end‑to‑end, from opportunity inception through to final submission.
- Manage tender portals.
- Attend daily bid coordination meetings where you will actively contribute.
- Own proposal planning, scheduling, and compliance management.
- Drive content development by coordinating inputs from Project Managers and technical leads.
- Produce, review, and refine proposal content; manage handover to graphics teams (no graphic design or InDesign work required).
- Proactively chase internal stakeholders for actions and inputs to meet tight deadlines.
- Lead internal quality reviews and manage approval processes.
- Support interview preparation and presentation development.
- Facilitate post‑bid debriefs to identify lessons learned and continuous improvement opportunities.
- Archive and deconstruct bid materials following submission.
- Undertake bid‑related administrative tasks where necessary.
Required Experience
- Degree in English, Marketing, Business Development, Construction, Civil Engineering or similar. Candidates without a degree will be considered if relevant experience is demonstrated.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in bid management or bid coordination.
- Hands‑on bid writing experience.
- Strong attention to detail when reviewing documentation.
- Proven experience managing multiple bids under tight deadlines.
- Strong understanding of bid processes within the construction or engineering sector.
- Ability to work independently and proactively with limited supervision.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organisational and stakeholder management skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
Preferred Qualifications
- APMP Certificate (Bid / Proposal / Project Management).
- CIM Certificate (Chartered Institute of Marketing).
Required Qualifications
- A minimum of 5 years relevant industry experience.
- Demonstrated “self‑starter” with a history of completing projects with limited oversight.
- Experience in sales and developing effective win strategies.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Proficient in Adobe Creative Cloud applications, including InDesign.
