Overview

In this role you will lead complex electrical engineering solutions for hyperscale data-centre campuses, guiding projects from concept to delivery. You’ll act as a senior technical contact for clients, shaping design quality and leveraging advanced tools and AI capabilities. You’ll mentor teams, drive cross-functional collaboration, and contribute to HDR’s sustainable growth as an employee-owned, values-driven organization. This position blends technical leadership with commercial judgment to deliver meaningful, world-scale impact.

Responsibilities

  • Lead complex technical solutions from concept to delivery
  • Serve as senior technical point of contact for clients and build trusted relationships
  • Provide authoritative leadership across electrical systems including power distribution, generation, backup, energy management and resilient infrastructure
  • Set standards for technical quality, innovation, safety, sustainability and reliability
  • Champion digital design technologies and emerging AI capabilities to improve outcomes
  • Lead multidisciplinary project teams balancing technical excellence with schedule, budget and quality
  • Maintain oversight of project performance and provide strategic direction to resolve challenges
  • Promote collaboration, knowledge sharing and professional development across the global employee-owned network
  • Mentor engineers at various career stages and nurture future technical leaders

Key requirements

  • At least eight years of relevant experience at Senior Engineer level or above
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent qualification
  • Chartered Engineer status or progress towards chartership preferred
  • Excellent communication skills for non-technical audiences and senior stakeholders
  • Strong knowledge of design software (Amtech, DIALux, Revit, Bluebeam) and ability to mentor junior designers
