As an Electrical Commissioning Manager - High Voltage (HV), you will lead and oversee the commissioning of high‑voltage electrical systems, including substations, switchgear, transformers, and transmission/distribution infrastructure across complex engineering projects. This role ensures that all commissioning activities are thoroughly planned, executed, validated, and documented in accordance with project requirements, regulatory standards, and client expectations. You will play a key role in delivering safe energisation and reliable operation of HV systems.

Responsibilities

  • Lead commissioning of HV equipment including transformers, GIS/AIS switchgear, HV cables, protection and control systems
  • Manage energisation procedures and ensure readiness for first power
  • Oversee protection relay testing, settings validation, and functional testing
  • Ensure compliance with HV safety rules, switching procedures, and permit‑to‑work systems
  • Coordinate grid compliance and interface requirements with utilities or transmission operators
  • Supervise high‑voltage testing (e.g. insulation resistance, HV withstand, partial discharge, cable testing)
  • Review and approve single‑line diagrams (SLDs), protection schemes, and interlocking logic
  • Lead pre‑commissioning and commissioning of substations and HV networks
  • Ensure proper implementation of earthing/grounding systems and safety clearances

Skills

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in commissioning or project management within high‑voltage (HV) electrical systems
  • Demonstrated expertise in commissioning substations, transmission/distribution systems, and HV infrastructure
  • Strong knowledge of protection
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills; ability to interact with people at all levels
  • Technical knowledge of MEP systems and HVAC expertise
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Multitasking ability
  • Valid driver’s licence
