As demand for renewable energy solutions continues to grow, we are looking for an ambitious and commercially focused Business Development Manager to help drive the next phase of our growth.
The Role
This is a senior, commercially focused position requiring confident engagement with senior stakeholders and the ability to independently deliver commercial results. The primary purpose of the role is to lead and expand HDM Energies' PPA sales activity in line with forecasted growth. You will take full ownership of developing and managing a portfolio of mid-market and Industrial & Commercial (I&C) customers, whilst building and growing strategic relationships with partners including solar installers, energy brokers, introducers, trade associations and purchasing organisations. You will be responsible for independently driving new business opportunities, managing key strategic relationships and maximising the value of both new and existing partnerships. Working closely with Pricing, Credit Risk, Operations and Customer Service teams, you will ensure opportunities are commercially viable and aligned with the company's trading, service and operational capabilities. As a senior member of the B2B Sales Team, you will also contribute towards channel strategy development and support the introduction of new products and services.
Key Responsibilities
- Business Development & Sales
- Deliver personal sales targets in line with the wider B2B sales strategy.
- Identify, develop and secure new PPA opportunities across the UK commercial sector.
- Build, manage and grow a portfolio of customers, partners and strategic referral channels.
- Lead new business development activities, including prospecting, networking and relationship management.
- Maximise cross-sell and upsell opportunities across the HDM Energies product portfolio.
- PPA Sales & Commercial Management
- Lead the end-to-end delivery of Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs).
- Manage commercial negotiations, financial modelling and contract execution independently.
- Assess commercial opportunities and ensure alignment with internal risk, pricing and operational requirements.
- Work collaboratively with internal stakeholders to structure commercially attractive and deliverable solutions.
- Strategic Relationship Management
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with customers, installers, brokers, introducers, trade bodies and purchasing organisations.
- Act as the senior point of contact for key accounts and strategic partners.
- Manage complex commercial discussions and escalations through to board-level stakeholders.
- Deliver exceptional customer and partner experiences through a consultative and solution-led approach.
- Leadership & Representation
- Contribute to the development and execution of channel growth strategies.
- Support the launch and adoption of new products and services.
- Represent HDM Energies at industry events, conferences, exhibitions and networking functions.
- Lead business presentations, customer meetings and commercial negotiations with senior stakeholders.
- Champion the HDM Energies brand, values and market proposition.
- Reporting & Administration
- Ensure accurate onboarding and handover of new customers.
- Maintain CRM records and sales pipeline information.
- Produce regular and ad-hoc sales reports, account plans and KPI updates.
- Provide market intelligence and commercial insights to support strategic decision-making.
