Located in Runcorn, United Kingdom, our newly extended 120,000 sq. ft. facility is a fully integrated site offering comprehensive manufacturing, repair, and overhaul services to the major players in the landing gear industry. Designated as a Center of Excellence, the facility specializes in surface treatment and assembly of small to medium sized landing gear systems.

Job Summary:

The Manufacturing Engineer provides technical support to shop floor operations, resolving engineering issues and responding to production queries. The role involves supporting manufacturing projects, analysing production feedback to identify programming and process inefficiencies, and implementing continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product quality, operational performance, and manufacturing efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Take responsibility for maintaining a safe working environment and ensuring compliance with all health and safety requirements.
  • Ensure all work is completed to the required quality standards and company procedures.
  • Create and modify NC programs while maintaining robust process controls and manufacturing standards.
  • Verify new and revised CNC programs using Vericut to ensure compliance with engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Support machinists and Programming Engineers during first article inspections, program transfers, and the introduction of new or revised parts.
  • Ensure all required programs, tooling, gauges, and manufacturing resources are available before production commences.
  • Develop and maintain manufacturing methods, routings, operator instructions, and inspection documentation as required.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives by working closely with production teams to optimise processes, tooling, automation, fixturing, and in-process measurement systems.
  • Maintain accurate engineering documentation, specifications, drawings, and engineering changes in accordance with the Quality Management System (QMS).
  • Provide clear communication and regular progress updates to stakeholders while managing priorities, meeting deadlines, and supporting wider business objectives.

Skills & Requirements

  • Strong understanding of aerospace manufacturing processes, engineering drawings, technical data, and CNC machine programming.
  • Knowledge of CNC machining processes, including 3, 4 and 5-axis milling, turning, and mill-turn operations; experience with FMS multi-pallet systems is advantageous.
  • Experience using CAM software, with CATIA V5 NC programming knowledge considered beneficial.
  • Experience working with MRP/ERP systems, including the creation and maintenance of Bills of Materials (BOMs) and manufacturing routings.
  • Experience supporting New Product Introduction (NPI) activities and continuous improvement initiatives would be advantageous.
