The role
- As a key member of the finance leadership, be the Expert in the Finance area for all regulatory and statutory technical issues
- Deliver technical insurance reporting requirements to the Regulators and Statutory authorities for all HDI entities in UK & Ireland
- Work with the Financial Control team to ensure that all necessary disclosures are made in statutory financial statements
- Ensure effective control and robust governance structures over all financial data being submitted to regulators
- Lead any changes needed in external reporting requirements resulting from changes in accounting standards or regulatory reporting requirements
- Review all External reports before submission to Statutory, Regulatory or Tax authorities
- Ensure all deadlines are complied with in respect of regulatory & tax reporting
Key accountabilities
- Recruit, train and motivate team members where appropriate to ensure the effective running of the external reporting function
- Identify and monitor skills gaps and training requirements of the function
- Build a strong relationship across the wider team in the UK and in Head Office
- Actively support the Head of Finance in developing the wider department strategies and people goals
- Be actively involved in market initiatives through networking and market meetings and ensure alignment with HDI processes and system changes
- Be the go to person for accounting standard queries
Regulatory Reporting
- Review & Submission of ARTs / QRTs to the PRA/CBI ensuring accuracy, timeliness and compliance with evolving regulatory requirements
- Review of all financial data prior to submission to regulators
- Input to IFRS reporting to Head Office
- Input into UK subsidiary SFCR, RSR and ORSA
Statutory Reporting
- Lead the update and implementation of accounting standard changes relevant for HDI entities in the UK and Ireland
- Work with the Financial Control team to ensure adequate disclosures are made in statutory financial statements
- Review draft statutory reports before submission to auditors
Tax
- Oversee tax department
- Review of Corporation tax for UK and Ireland entities
- Review of VAT & IPT returns prior to submission to tax authorities
Process Improvements
- Build knowledge of reporting from the different systems
- Constantly drive process improvements to drive efficiency and enhance the quality, automating where possible
Skills & experience
- Qualified Accountant
- Expert in technical accounting standards
- Experience in regulatory reporting and taxation matters
- Regulatory reporting
- Insurance accounting experience
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel
- Particularly strong attention to detail, communication and organisation skills required
