HDI is a Corporate & Specialty Insurer part of the Talanx Group. With over 120 years of experience, HDI operates across five continents, around 40 countries and employs over 5,000 people worldwide.
The role involves desktop adjusting of own portfolio of cases notified, from first advice through to settlement within designated authority, in accordance with the claims handling manual. The cases are varied and may include both lead and follow claims to a high technical level.
Key accountabilities:- To actively manage a portfolio of Energy claims across all classes including but not limited to upstream, operational power, renewables and downstream risks within a designated claim authority.
- To undertake an initial evaluation of cause of loss to determine whether a claim is covered and what further information may be required.
- To decide the Company’s response to claims, based on correct interpretation of policy and underwriting documentation; investigating, negotiating and settling claims within statutory and company guidelines. This includes coverage analysis and policy determination and subrogation/recovery action.
- To assist in the process for setting and entering into claims systems, accurate, realistic and timely claim reserves to enable management to assess the company exposure.
- To liaise with clients, loss adjusters, solicitors, experts, brokers, MGA’s and TPA’s as appropriate for claims service and investigation.
- To liaise with underwriters & risk managers, finance, Management, Home Office and with network (Servicing and/or Producing offices) as and when relevant for informational, procedural or authority reasons.
- To maintain accurate records for auditing and regulatory purposes, preparing reports as necessary.
- To proactively participate in projects or other initiatives designed to improve the effectiveness or efficiency of the department.
- To support your Manager and senior claims team to deliver the strategic objectives for the function and develop a broker engagement strategy best suited to this class of business.
- To assist in the management of international programs (Servicing and/or Producing office) by liaising with the network, clients, brokers, loss adjusters, solicitors and experts as appropriate to ensure an efficient claims service and the provision of correct and accurate claims data.
- Energy claims handling experience on a lead and follow basis.
- Current experience, understanding and practice of the technical/legal requirements of the role.
- Good general knowledge and understanding of the key insurance principles and practices of the London Market.
- Good working knowledge of coverage provided under Energy policies.
- General awareness of current regulation, case law, and market issues.
- Effective communicator with proven Vendor/expert management.
- Experience attending market and client meetings.
- Good knowledge MS Word and CLASS/ECF2.
