As an industrial lines insurer, HDI Global SE (HDI) meets the needs of industrial companies and corporate customers with insurance solutions that are specifically tailored to their requirements. The company is able to offer its customers local policies for their global operations, which ensure that the established service and insurance protection is extended for all covered risks worldwide.

We are currently looking for a self-motivated individual to join our UK & Ireland Risk Engineering team to contribute in establishing, strengthening and promoting a market leading Risk Engineering practice to support our Energy Hub in London office.

Key accountabilities:
  • Conduct Risk Engineering Surveys for the Power Sector (including renewable power).
  • Implementation of efficient loss prevention measures with the development of effective operational risk management procedures at client level.
  • Establish a Risk Engineering Practice in line with HRC Standards.
  • Implement HRC Risk Engineering tools.
  • Evaluate loss potential in accordance with HRC guidelines.
  • Desktop reviews of external risk reports as requested by underwriters.
  • Provide reports in a timely manner in agreement with underwriters and in accordance with HRC Risk Engineering guidelines.
  • Attend client presentations where required by the underwriting team.
  • Develop close relationships with clients.
  • Keep up-to-date with the latest technical developments in major industries and provide technical updates to underwriters.
Skills & experience:
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience working within the Power industry (conventional) or experience as a power risk engineer in the insurance industry.
  • Appropriate formal Engineering Qualifications. Professional membership of engineering associations would be advantageous.
  • Good knowledge of conventional power plant operations and maintenance of turbines.
  • Good knowledge or experience in renewable energy would be an additional advantage.
  • Good understanding of international engineering standards.
  • International experience or working with different cultures is preferred.
  • Highly motivated personnel with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Team player and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Willingness to travel.
