Responsibilities:
- Underwrite Financial Lines business and develop lead market capabilities in accordance with underwriting guidelines and business plan.
- Externally promote HDI to broking houses, creating a network of supporting brokers providing client opportunities within appetite and respond to and develop new opportunities as they are presented.
- Consider opportunities to innovate with trusted broker partners and, when identified, build the business case for sponsorship.
- Develop the branch capabilities to write profitable Financial Lines business.
- End-to-end project management for functional projects and contribute to branch-wide projects.
- Establish yourself as the product specialist for Financial Institutions (FI), mentor and train junior underwriters on coverage, risk selection and market.
- Identify skills gaps and training requirements of the team; design, implement and maintain process controls to ensure output quality.
- Internal collaboration with legal, compliance, actuarial and claims to provide necessary support for FI product lines.
- Maintain and interpret management information, provide suggestions on strategic changes and identify trends affecting the account.
- Assist Head of Financial Lines with strategy, planning and forecasting for the FI portfolio.
- Promote HDI externally to enhance brand reputation and establish it as a lead market in this sector.
- Develop a trusted broker network to provide business opportunities and promote HDI externally to clients.
- Adhere to Local and Group guidelines and support other functional activities as required.
Skills & Experience:
- Well-established market underwriter with detailed understanding of the Financial Lines product and market.
- Understanding of inputs required to create technical pricing and ability to contribute to underwriting tools development and refinement.
- Established connections within the Financial Lines market to access desired business partners and client base.
- Experience in writing to a balanced portfolio with strong knowledge of line size management and risk selection.
- Strong team ethic, self-motivating, and desire to develop more junior team members and demonstrate best practice.
- Calm and considered judgement during peak trading periods.
