HD Tech are partnering with a leading international manufacturer within the construction materials sector to recruit a Technical Team Manager. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced technical leader to join a well-established, people-focused business with a strong reputation for quality, innovation, and customer service. The organisation provides specialist technical solutions across the building envelope and roofing market, supporting clients from project inception through to completion.

The successful candidate will play a key leadership role within the technical function, ensuring high standards of service, strong team performance, and effective collaboration across the wider business.

The Opportunity

Reporting to the Head of Technical, the Technical Team Manager will lead and oversee the Technical Department, ensuring the highest standards of technical service and quality of work are consistently delivered. This role requires a highly capable manager with strong leadership experience, a collaborative and empathetic approach, and the ability to drive consistency, performance, and continuous improvement across the department. The postholder will also play an important role in maintaining technical excellence, supporting the business’s reputation, and helping to minimise commercial risk and liability.

Leadership and Team Management

  • Lead the day-to-day operations and administrative activities of the Technical Services Team.
  • Manage and develop Technical Managers, Supervisors, Coordinators, and associated teams to ensure a consistent and aligned leadership approach.
  • Support departmental objectives through effective coaching, training, performance management, scheduling, recruitment, and employee development.
  • Foster a positive team culture by leading with empathy, consistency, and professionalism.
  • Provide mentoring and development support to technical leadership team members, helping individuals achieve both personal and departmental goals.
  • Ensure the department operates efficiently and in line with business KPIs and development procedures.

Operational and Technical Oversight

  • Lead the strategic development and production of specifications, reports, technical calculations, and drawings across required formats.
  • Ensure technical tasks and queries are managed efficiently and escalated appropriately where needed.
  • Define, communicate, and uphold technical standards, internal procedures, and relevant industry codes of practice.
  • Work closely with senior stakeholders to align departmental processes with changes to guarantee strategy, product development, and company standards.
  • Assist with complex technical issues, installation complaints, and post-guarantee matters when required.
  • Support the mitigation of risk associated with the technical function.

Continuous Improvement and Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Identify and develop reporting metrics, departmental statistics, and data requirements to support operational and strategic decision-making.
  • Implement best practice, process improvements, and continuous improvement initiatives across the department.
  • Collaborate with internal teams including Compliance, IT, HR, Sales, and Technical Development to improve systems, processes, and ways of working.
  • Support the further development of in-house software and systems in partnership with relevant stakeholders.
  • Work closely with commercial and regional teams to resolve queries and maintain strong interdepartmental relationships.
