About the opportunity

HD Tech are working with a leading international manufacturer of specialist construction materials for flat roofing systems. The business provides complete technical roofing solutions from project inception through to completion, supporting clients with high-quality waterproofing, insulation, green roof, blue roof and solar PV roofing systems.

This is an excellent opportunity for a technically minded individual with a construction, architectural or roofing background to join a well-established technical department. The successful candidate will support the business by reviewing specifications, analysing survey reports, checking technical proposals, producing calculations and assisting with technical detail drawings. Full training will be provided across areas such as wind load calculations, drainage calculations, thermal performance assessments and the production of technical drawings.

The role

Working as part of a busy Technical team, you will be responsible for:

  • Reviewing and processing technical specification requests, checking waterproofing system suitability, supporting technical documentation, and liaising with both internal teams and external clients.

This role would suit someone with strong attention to detail, the ability to interpret architectural drawings, and an interest in flat roofing, waterproofing systems or building envelope solutions.

Key responsibilities

  • Produce, review and process technical specification requests, detail drawing requests, technical documentation and technical calculations.
  • Check incoming specifications for flat roof waterproofing systems, ensuring suitability and compatibility.
  • Review and analyse roof survey reports.
  • Liaise with clients and internal technical sales teams to provide technical advice.
  • Support the production of technical detail drawings.
  • Review specification construction, survey reports and construction drawings.
  • Develop a detailed understanding of flat roof waterproofing system construction.
  • Work with relevant industry codes of practice and Building Regulations.
  • Support calculations relating to thermal performance, drainage and wind loading.
  • Handle technical telephone enquiries and general administration.
  • Work collaboratively as part of a professional Technical department.
  • Provide wider departmental support where required, including assisting during busy periods or staff shortages.
  • Attend off-site meetings when required.

About you

The ideal candidate will be technically capable, logical and detail-focused, with a background or strong interest in construction, architecture, roofing or building fabric. You will be comfortable working with technical information, drawings and documentation, and will be confident communicating with a range of stakeholders.

Key skills and experience

  • Construction, architectural or roofing industry experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of flat roof waterproofing systems would be advantageous.
  • Ability to read and understand architectural drawings.
  • CAD experience would be beneficial but is not essential.
  • Good understanding of building fabric, industry standards and codes of practice.
  • Strong attention to detail and high degree of accuracy.
  • Analytical and methodical approach to work.
  • Strong written English, spelling and grammar.
  • Excellent communication skills and a personable manner.
  • Computer literate.
  • Proactive, motivated and able to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Approachable, diplomatic and professional.
