Overview
Senior-level M&E Cost Consultant position within a cost and project management consultancy. The role is focused on mechanical and electrical cost management, procurement advice and direct client delivery across construction projects. The Role
- Take responsibility for M&E cost management instructions across construction projects
- Provide mechanical and electrical cost advice throughout the project lifecycle
- Prepare M&E cost plans, estimates and commercial reports
- Advise clients on procurement strategy for building services packages
- Provide market and procurement advice covering mechanical and electrical works
- Monitor project expenditure and provide cost control advice
- Identify cost, procurement and commercial risks within M&E packages
- Report directly to clients and senior project stakeholders
- Represent the consultancy at client, design team and project meetings
- Manage client expectations across live instructions
- Support commercial performance and fee delivery
- Contribute to turnover and profitability objectives
- Support the expansion of the M&E cost consultancy service
- Contribute to future service planning and departmental development
About the Consultancy
An independent consultancy providing cost management and project management services to clients across the built environment. Its work covers construction projects requiring commercial, procurement and project delivery advice. The M&E cost management function is being expanded in response to increased client requirements and a growing pipeline of specialist building services instructions.
Candidate Requirements
- Relevant Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management or a related construction discipline
- MRICS qualified or progressing towards chartership with relevant consultancy experience
- Minimum 4-5 years' experience within cost consultancy
- M&E cost management experience covering mechanical and electrical packages
- Experience preparing cost plans, estimates and commercial reporting
- Working knowledge of M&E procurement routes and procurement strategy
- Experience advising clients directly
- Ability to manage cost consultancy instructions with appropriate senior oversight
- Commercial judgement across cost, procurement and project risk
- Experience contributing to fee performance and client relationships
- London-based or able to commute into London as required
