Overview
Associate Director Building Surveyor position focused on commercial Building Surveying instructions across London and the wider UK. The role combines instruction ownership, senior client management, fee generation and oversight of surveyors. Sector exposure is centred on commercial property, including refurbishment, fit-out, dilapidations and technical due diligence. Highly flexible working arrangements apply, with substantial autonomy over office attendance and working location. Permanent position.

The Role
- Drive fee income and growth across the Building Surveying service line
- Take ownership of major Building Surveying instructions from appointment through to completion
- Manage senior relationships with commercial property clients
- Lead dilapidations instructions for landlords and tenants
- Deliver technical due diligence for acquisitions, disposals and refinancing
- Oversee refurbishment and fit-out projects
- Act as Contract Administrator, Project Manager and Employer’s Agent
- Advise clients on technical property matters, project risk and asset strategy
- Review technical reports, specifications and project documentation
- Maintain responsibility for quality, programme and commercial performance across instructions
- Prepare fee proposals and tender submissions
- Identify and secure new instructions from existing and prospective clients
- Contribute to revenue planning and Building Surveying service growth
- Monitor team utilisation, workload and technical standards
- Oversee Chartered Surveyors and APC candidates
- Coordinate with Cost Consultancy and wider professional property services
- Maintain compliance with relevant legislation, regulations and professional standards
About the Consultancy
A multidisciplinary property consultancy providing Building Surveying, Cost Consultancy and associated professional services to commercial property clients across the UK. Instructions cover technical advisory and project-led services across commercial assets and portfolios. The Building Surveying team is expanding to support increased client demand, fee growth and the continued development of the service line.
Candidate Requirements
- Degree in Building Surveying or a related discipline
- MRICS qualified
- Significant post-qualification consultancy experience
- Commercial Building Surveying experience
- Dilapidations experience
- Technical due diligence experience
- Contract administration experience
- Project Management and Employer’s Agent exposure
- Working knowledge of JCT and/or NEC contracts
- Experience managing senior client relationships
- Ability to manage instructions with responsibility for fees, programme, technical risk and delivery
- Experience generating fees and securing consultancy instructions
- Experience overseeing and developing surveyors
- Commercial judgement appropriate to Associate Director level
- Full UK driving licence
