We are looking for Student Health Visitors to join us! Are you a reflective, dedicated and dynamic Nurse or Midwife, and looking to train as a Health Visitor where you can make a real difference to children, families, and communities? Then we would love to hear from you!
At HCRG Care Group we are offering a 1-year full-time course through the University of Surrey. You will gain vital hands-on practical experience and key theoretical knowledge through a 50/50 split. Training is a combination of clinical learning and study in both practice placements and university. You will be based in Surrey. This course is a level 6/7 where you will receive SCPHN Health Visitor qualification and is delivered by esteemed University of Surrey. Successful applicants will need to be available to start in October 2025.
Main Responsibility
As a Student SCPHN Health Visitor you will play a vital role in ensuring that every child gets the best possible start in life and develop the skills to lead the Healthy Child programme. You will work with families to identify health needs in children 0-4 years as early as possible! Your practice placement will facilitate practice learning enabling you to apply the theoretical knowledge and acquire the skills to ensure high quality, evidence-based assessment, delivery, and evaluation of care in relation to child/family need and the protection of children. The course runs for 52 weeks with 7 weeks annual leave. The annual leave is set by the university and non-negotiable. Upon completion of the course you will be registered as a SCPHN whereupon you will be eligible to apply for Band 6 Health Visitor roles.
The Ideal Candidate

- Registration with NMC as a nurse or midwife
- Nursing or Midwifery degree qualifications
- A passion to improve the outcomes of local families
- The ability to travel across Surrey to meet both the educational and clinical requirements of the course
- A valid UK driving licence and access to a car for work purposes
Successful applicants must have a Nursing or Midwifery honours degree at 2:2 or above to access the PG Dip. Please note that if candidates have already completed the SCPHN course you would not be eligible for this position.
