We will look to you to take a leading role in improving the quality of professional social work across the breadth of the casework cycle, complying with legislative requirements at all times and in accordance with best practice.

Our Children in Care teams work with children who are subject to care proceedings and help move children into long term permanent arrangements, through rehabilitation home, adoption, SGO and long term foster care. You will get the case through court and finalise it, whether it be through fostering, home or alternative accommodation.

As well as managing your own complex caseload, we will expect you to provide technical and professional expertise to less experienced social workers, mentoring them and sharing your knowledge of relevant legislation, national standards, guidance, research, policy and procedures. Another important part of the role will involve actively promoting a ‘joined-up’ approach to effective partnership working, with service users as well as other teams, agencies and organisations.

It’s a full time post, with an average case load of 18/19 per person but this is tailored to suit how the social worker works. If you come into the team you will come into already worked cases (never will be given a new case fresh into the team).

Responsibilities of the social worker:

  • To undertake appropriate training and to maintain a knowledge of changes to departmental procedure, legislation and regulations and of developments in professional practice.
  • To undertake any other duties as may be required commensurate with the grading of the post in order to meet the changing needs of the service.

Benefits of working for CIC:

  • Agile working
  • Hybrid working
  • Condensed hours
  • Settled work force
  • 6 strong teams
  • Good integration
  • Monthly supervisions
  • Always a manager on the desk
