Are you an experienced and compassionate Occupational Therapist looking to take the next step in your career? We are seeking a skilled Band 6 Occupational Therapist to join our multidisciplinary Children's Community Health Team. In this vital role, you will provide expert assessment, diagnosis, and therapeutic interventions to children, empowering them and their families to achieve their fullest potential.

As a key member of the team, you'll work collaboratively with families, carers, and other professionals, supporting children to develop independence and self-management skills. Your expertise will help shape personalised care plans and provide holistic, child-centred solutions that truly make a difference. Base: You will be based at one of our Surrey-wide office hubs, with the flexibility of hybrid working to support your professional and personal needs. Main duties of the job:

  • Conduct thorough assessments, diagnoses, and collaboratively create personalised treatment plans with children and their families, ensuring clear communication of complex information in an understandable and supportive manner.
  • Provide tailored advice and interventions, sourcing and training families on the use of specialist equipment for home and school as needed.
  • Work flexibly with children across various settings, including homes, schools, nurseries, and clinics, ensuring equitable care and holistic support.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and external agencies, participating in joint sessions, case conferences, and maintaining regular communication to deliver comprehensive care.
  • Prioritise treatment goals for children, including those with complex needs or terminal illnesses, planning therapy blocks and discharge with appropriate referrals and follow-up.
  • Use manual handling techniques and adapt practices to meet the diverse cultural and linguistic needs of children and their families.
  • Ensure safeguarding protocols are followed, address incidents appropriately, and meet mandatory training requirements.
  • Prepare clear and professional reports for Education, Health, and Care Plans (EHCPs), reviews, and other necessary documentation, supporting educational and therapeutic outcomes.

Ideal Candidate:

Essential:

  • Diploma/Degree in Occupational Therapy
  • Registered and compliant with Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)
  • Evidence of Post graduate training/or equivalent experience relevant to speciality such as Child Development
  • Specialist courses/study on conditions that affect child development, autistic spectrum disorder, ADHD, neurodevelopmental conditions
  • Demonstrable post registration experience of working with children in a similar area of paediatric practice.

Desirable:

  • Member of BAOT
  • Membership of Special Interest Group
  • Clinical Educators qualification
  • Working in a community setting delivering children's Occupational Therapy services.
  • Demonstrable experience of working in the NHS

Other requirements: the successful applicant will need to be a car driver.
