Job Introduction
Are you a compassionate and skilled Occupational Therapist looking for a rewarding role? The Calne, Corsham and Box Community Team has an exciting opportunity for a new community band 6 Occupational Therapist to join our team.
We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated and hardworking individual who can work flexibly and efficiently. We are a busy, friendly team, who would welcome the opportunity to work with a new member of staff who is willing to learn new skills and welcome change. This is your chance help lead and co-ordinate a collaborative and passionate team , where your expertise and dedication will make a real difference in people’s lives
The successful candidate will work with, mentor and lead a team of friendly, approachable physiotherapists, occupational therapists and community assistant practitioners across Calne, Corsham and Box community.
You will deliver high quality occupational therapeutic interventions and health care to patients within a variety of community settings. You will provide proactive, holistic case management whilst working with patients to help them set realistic goals. Utilising health coaching skills to actively engage with patient and their family to ensure that expectations are appropriately managed.
You will complete occupational assessments and prescribe to patient equipment to, frail and elderly, palliative care and rehabilitation needs, to achieve quality and independence where possible.
Due to the community working nature of the role, you will need hold a full UK licence and own a car with business insurance.
Main Responsibility
- Provide support and education to peers, new staff non-registered staff and students.
- To work within the integrated multi-professional team.
- To be accountable for assessing, interpreting, planning and implementing occupational therapy treatment and care to patients within professional guidelines, with the support of specialist team members and the Team Leader.
- To undertake assessments, care planning and evaluation.
- Wherever possible to avoid hospital admission and reduce inpatient length of stay to ensure those patients receive the appropriate care in the most appropriate setting.
- To keep the patient at the centre of his or her care, ensuring patient and carer participation in decision making.

The Ideal Candidate
- Dip COT/BSc/BSc(Hons)/MSc OT
- Registered as an OT with the Health professional Council
- To possess a current, valid full driving licence
- Evidence of continuing professional development
- Knowledge of legislation affecting professional practice
- Experience of applying research based information to practice
- Assessment and care planning
- Working with a multi-disciplinary team
- Experience within a range of patient/client care groups
- To be able to communicate with people from a wide range of backgrounds
