As a Band 5 Occupational Therapist, you will play a vital role in a multidisciplinary team, supporting children with a range of developmental and performance challenges. You'll work in partnership with families, carers and other professionals to enable self‐management, independence and well‐being in children's daily lives.
Base: You will be based at one of our Surrey‐wide office hubs, with the flexibility of hybrid working to support your professional and personal needs. Main Responsibilities
- Carrying out high‐quality School Based Assessments, as part of a Multi‐Disciplinary Team (MDT) for children and young people.
- Assess and provide tailored advice and interventions for children with diverse needs.
- Develop and implement individualised treatment plans in collaboration with families and carers.
- Recommend and support the use of specialist equipment for home and school settings.
- Liaise with professionals across health, education, social care and voluntary sectors to ensure comprehensive care.
- Provide sensitive and effective communication with children and their families, adapting to their needs and circumstances.
- Contribute to team performance targets and participate in supervision, training and team meetings.
- Assist with prioritising treatment goals for children with complex needs or terminal illnesses, ensuring appropriate discharge planning and referrals.
The Ideal Candidate
- Knowledge/training in ASD strategies and interventions e.g. PECS, SCERTS, ADOS.
- Diploma/Degree in Occupational Therapy.
- Registered and compliant with Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
- Evidence of Post‐graduate training or equivalent experience relevant to speciality such as: Child Development or specialist courses/study on conditions that affect child development, autistic spectrum disorder, ADHD, neuro‐developmental conditions.
- Demonstrable post‐registration experience of working with children in a similar area of paediatric practice.
- Experience of using a range of assessments and treatment methods.
- Member of BAOT.
- Membership of Special Interest Group.
- Working in a community setting delivering children's Occupational Therapy services.
- Other requirements: the successful applicant will need to be a car driver.
