Base: You will be based at one of our Surrey-wide office hubs, with the flexibility of hybrid working to support your professional and personal needs. Main Responsibilities:
- Carrying out high-quality school based assessments, as part of a Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) for children and young people.
- Provide support, advice, and accessible therapy programmes to children, families, and carers, adapting communication for understanding.
- Share and receive complex and sensitive information regarding children’s difficulties, progress, and expectations.
- Attend, arrange, and contribute specialist advice in multidisciplinary meetings.
- Plan, organise, and manage therapy services, including supervision, appraisals, and training of staff, students, and parents/carers.
- Deliver and adapt therapy interventions, both individual and group, across home, clinic, and education settings, ensuring evidence-based practice.
- Conduct and interpret complex assessments, contribute to diagnoses, identify therapy goals, and make referrals where needed.
- Maintain accurate written and electronic records, reports, and documentation in line with professional and organisational standards.
- Demonstrate empathy and sensitivity in supporting families adjusting to their child’s condition.
- Apply clinical reasoning to assess needs, develop and adapt therapy/management plans, evaluate outcomes, and ensure best practice.
- Participate in service development, audits, and research projects to enhance clinical practice.
- Maintain professional development, reflect on practice, and comply with HCPC and professional body requirements.
- Prioritise and manage caseloads, respond to urgent referrals, and deputise for Band 7 as required.
The Ideal Candidate:
- Recognised Speech and Language Therapy degree or equivalent (Post Graduate Diploma or MSc in Speech and Language Therapy leading to registration with HCPC).
- Knowledge/training in ASD strategies and interventions e.g. PECS, SCERTS, ADOS.
- Health and Care Professions Council Licence to Practice (HCPC).
- Member of the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists.
- Minimum of 2 years post qualification experience.
- Member of relevant Clinical Excellence Network.
- Evidence of relevant post graduate training, internal or external.
- Knowledge/training in educational training packages e.g. ELKLAN, WellComm.
- Demonstrable experience of working in the NHS.
- Other requirements: the successful applicant will need to be a car driver.
