We are seeking a highly experienced Principal Systems Engineer to lead the development of complex mechatronic systems in an off highway / automotive environment. The role involves defining system architecture, driving model-based development, and ensuring seamless integration of hardware and software across distributed control systems. You will play a key role in influencing technical direction and aligning cross-functional teams to deliver robust and high-performance engineering solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end systems engineering activities across the product lifecycle
- Define and develop system architecture and behavior using Model-Based Development tools such as MATLAB/Simulink and SysML
- Manage and trace system requirements using tools like JAMA and track issues via JIRA
- Design and integrate ECU architectures, distributed control systems, sensors, and actuators
- Utilize CAN tools (CANoe, CANalyzer) for communication analysis, diagnostics, and validation
- Contribute to system design across hydraulics, propulsion, driveline, and operator control systems
- Address environmental and reliability challenges including vibration, thermal stress, EMC, and contamination
- Provide technical leadership, guide design decisions, and collaborate with cross-functional teams
Qualifications & Experience
- 8+ years of experience in systems engineering within off-highway, automotive, aerospace, robotics, or similar domains
- Strong expertise in Model-Based Design and system architecture definition
- Hands‑on experience with requirements management (JAMA) and issue tracking tools (JIRA)
- Solid understanding of ECU systems, distributed controls, and embedded systems
- Experience working with CAN-based tools and diagnostics workflows
- Knowledge of off-highway machinery domains such as hydraulics, powertrain, and control systems
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with a focus on reliability and performance
- Proven ability to lead technical initiatives and influence cross‑functional stakeholders
