HCLTech is a global technology company, home to more than 226,300 people across 60 countries, delivering industry-leading capabilities centered around AI, digital, engineering, cloud and software, powered by a broad portfolio of technology services and products. We work with clients across all major verticals, providing industry solutions for Financial Services, Manufacturing, Life Sciences and Healthcare, High Tech, Semiconductor, Telecom and Media, Retail and CPG, Mobility and Public Services.
Responsibilities include:
- Making available a large number (order of tens of thousands) of 3D assets with realistic physical properties for use within the MuJoCo physics simulator, specifically for robotics use cases. Assets include rigid bodies and articulated assemblies.
- Manually inspecting and improving (a small number of) simulated assets, understanding failure modes and design tradeoffs in the context of the MuJoCo simulator. These learnings would then be used to build automated processing pipelines.
- Developing automated scalable pipelines to process 3D assets to make them physically simulatable. This includes:
- Assigning plausible physical properties (e.g. friction, inertial properties).
- Automated convex decomposition of assets, using either meshes or primitives.
- Automated testing of the geometry, collisions, physics properties and visuals.
- Develop an interface for semi-automated human inspections of 3D assets.

How to prepare for a job interview at HCLTech
✨Know Your 3D Stuff
Make sure you brush up on your knowledge of 3D asset creation and the tools involved. Familiarise yourself with software like Blender or Maya, and understand the basics of physics properties in simulations. Being able to discuss your experience with these tools will show that you're ready to hit the ground running.
✨Understand MuJoCo
Since the role involves working with the MuJoCo physics simulator, take some time to learn about its functionalities and how it handles 3D assets. If possible, try to run a few simulations yourself. This will not only impress your interviewers but also help you answer technical questions more confidently.
✨Showcase Problem-Solving Skills
Be prepared to discuss past experiences where you've tackled challenges related to asset creation or simulation. Think about specific examples where you identified issues, proposed solutions, and implemented changes. This will demonstrate your analytical thinking and ability to improve processes.
✨Ask Insightful Questions
Interviews are a two-way street, so come armed with questions that show your interest in the company and the role. Ask about the team’s current projects, challenges they face with 3D assets, or how they envision the future of their technology. This not only shows your enthusiasm but also helps you gauge if the company is the right fit for you.
