We work with clients across all major verticals, providing industry solutions for Financial Services, Manufacturing, Life Sciences and Healthcare, Technology and Services, Telecom and Media, Retail and CPG, and Public Services.

About the Role

Join the FIC Sales Technology team. As a Software Engineer, you will be a hands‑on contributor building modern UI components, backend services, and data-driven features that directly support our Fixed Income & Currencies (FIC) sales organization. You will work across core application components and platform capabilities, contributing to systems used directly by front-office teams. The platform continues to evolve, including the introduction of AI-related capabilities over time, and you may have opportunities to contribute to these areas depending on team priorities. We are looking for an ambitious engineer with strong technical skills and a genuine interest in the FIC business. You will contribute to shaping technical solutions over time while delivering high-quality software in a front-office environment.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Hands-on engineering: Build high-performance, scalable software components using modern engineering practices and contribute to complex technical problem solving.
  • Service-led architecture: Support the design and implementation of distributed, service-oriented architectures using Java or Kotlin, ensuring reliability and maintainability.
  • Modern UI development: Create intuitive and responsive user interfaces using React, improving how salespeople access insights and manage client workflow.
  • Feature development: Contribute to the development of data-driven application features that enhance sales workflows and client interaction.
  • Platform integration and evolution: Integrate with existing systems and contribute to the development of a cohesive sales technology platform aligned with strategic direction.
  • Cross-team collaboration: Work closely with sales, product, data, and engineering teams to gather requirements, shape solutions, and ensure successful delivery.

Your Skills and Experience

  • Strong engineering background delivering complex software in fast-paced environments, with a solid grounding in Object-Oriented and/or Functional programming, and proven use of XP/agile practices including TDD, acceptance testing, pair programming, and continuous integration.
  • Proficiency in Java or Kotlin, and familiarity with building modern web applications using Typescript and React.
  • Experience applying iterative development to deliver high-value outcomes in complex domains.
  • Exposure to data-driven or analytical systems; experience with AI/ML-related features is beneficial but not required. Familiarity with CI/CD, observability, and operating production systems.
  • Understanding of front-office or revenue-generating technology in an investment bank, together with knowledge of FIC products (FX, Credit, Rates, or EM), or a strong motivation to develop this domain expertise and learn sales workflows.

Brush Up on Your Coding Skills

For a full-time software engineering role, it's crucial that we stay sharp with our coding abilities. Expect technical questions that might involve solving problems on the spot or discussing algorithms. Practise on platforms like LeetCode or HackerRank to get comfortable with the types of questions that often come up.

Know Your Tools and Frameworks

Make sure we’re well-acquainted with the tools and technologies listed in the job description. Familiarise ourselves with any specific frameworks or programming languages mentioned. If HCLTech uses React or Node.js, for instance, be ready to discuss how we’ve used them in previous projects or coursework.
