The predicted salary is between 36000 - 60000 £ per year.

Main duties and responsibilities will include:

  • Integration of Control & Protection Panels system with Simulation packages
  • Configuration of IEC61850 IED’s via vendor specific tools and System Configuration Tools for complete system integration.
  • Lead the configuration, testing and troubleshooting of complex IEC61850 IED system.
  • Testing and debugging of complex IEC61850 communication systems using industry standard tools such as IEDScout, Wireshark etc.
  • Providing Technical Support to Control Project Lead Engineers
  • Testing of control & protection system.
  • Typical tasks include the following

· Creating and carrying out test procedures

· Investigating problems and diagnosing and repairing faults

· Ensuring that equipment works to its specification.

· Installation, inspection and safe power up the equipment,

· Loading of software and firmware

· Equipment Configuration (e.g. Network switches)

· Primary and secondary injections

· Electrical circuit and relay logic testing

· Troubleshooting, including log/error file extraction

· Wiring of control cubicle

· Fibre & cabling installation

· Cubicle Installation and movement

· Prepare technical and test specifications, test reports

· Support site activities relevant to the installation and commissioning of the control system

· Ensuring safe working conditions

· Review system as-built documentation for accuracy and completeness.

· Provide daily and weekly progress reports of accomplished tasks and exception

· Support in creation of control hardware System architecture for Test Platform.

· Support work on site (within UK & International) for projects as and when required.

Requirements/ Qualification:

  • Degree or equivalent experience in Electronics/Electrical engineering or related field.
  • Experience in working with Control Panels, preferably for a Substation environment
  • Good knowledge of networking and IEC61850 protocol.
  • Good knowledge of RSCAD.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience in working in a team/project environment
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment with limited supervision
  • Must possess strong attention to detail
  • Must be willing to learn and improve processes as required
  • Must be able to work under pressure of customer and Project Manager(s) and complete tasks under tight time frame
  • Flexible working hours (weekend/bank holidays as required)
  • Required to follow and understand work rules and procedures
  • Must be able to exhibit logic and troubleshooting skills
  • Required to travel a minimum of 5% (International Worldwide)
  • At all times adhere to GE / Customer EHS requirements whether in lab or site environment, maintaining a safe and clean working environment
  • Strong oral and written communicate
