About the Role
We are looking for a Supply Chain Specialist to support procurement and inventory of internal hardware assets and the movement of equipment between laboratories, storage locations, and operational sites. This is an entry‑level, permanent role suited to someone early in their career who is interested in purchasing, inventory control, and hands-on operational work within a technical or laboratory environment. You will work closely with engineering and research teams to ensure the right items are procured timely and internal assets are accurately tracked, safely handled, and available when required.
Who We Are Looking For
- A Self-Starter: This is a fast paced environment, we need to know that you’re ready to give things a go even when the requirements are not always clear.
- Hands On Approach: Our projects evolve quickly and priorities change; this role requires you to take initiative and make things happen, from conceptualizing and building physical environments to understanding how systems work and documenting them clearly.
- A Change-Maker: We are continuously looking to improve our processes, the team and each other so we are looking to bring someone in who can continuously look to bring ideas and positive changes.
- Supportive by Nature: We all encounter challenges and provide mutual support to each other - job titles don’t matter when we work together to achieve a common goal.
- Sociable: We all want to enjoy spending time with the people we work with and are open to each other’s differences.
- Communication: You will need to be able to communicate clearly to our team and stakeholders on the status of work and timelines for completion.
Key Responsibilities
- Procurement & Operational Support: Support the sourcing and ordering of equipment, spare parts, and supplies through approved internal systems. Assist with purchase order tracking, invoice checks, and basic supplier coordination under guidance from senior team members. Help raise and follow up support tickets for system or process issues as required.
- Inventory & Internal Asset Management: Support the maintenance of accurate records for hardware components, equipment, and physical assets across on‑site labs and external storage locations. Assist with cataloguing and tracking internal assets using inventory management systems, ensuring consistency between physical stock and system records. Participate in regular (monthly) stock checks, helping to identify shortages, discrepancies, or damaged items. Support the availability of commonly used equipment and supplies to minimise disruption to day‑to‑day operations.
- Shipping Between Sites & Storage: Assist with shipping and receiving activities for internal transfers of components, assemblies, and equipment between labs, storage facilities, suppliers, and other company sites, including locations in the UK and USA. Help prepare items for shipment, including packing, labelling, and documentation, following established procedures. Support the safe handling and movement of sensitive or high‑value equipment.
- Lab & Storage Organisation: Help maintain organised, tidy, and safe lab and storage areas. Assist with moving robots, equipment, and inventory as required to support operational needs. Follow handling procedures and safety guidelines when working with specialised or sensitive hardware.
- Systems, Data & Documentation Support: Assist with updating inventory and asset records when items are received, moved, or retired. Support the maintenance of shipping and asset documentation in line with internal and regulatory requirements. Learn and comply with relevant health and safety policies, lab procedures, and equipment handling standards.
Essential Requirements
- Interest or early experience in procurement, inventory management or lab/operations support.
- Comfortable working with physical equipment and maintaining accurate records.
- Basic experience using inventory systems, spreadsheets, or similar tools.
- Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to tasks.
- Willingness to follow defined processes, safety requirements, and handling procedures.
- Ability to work collaboratively with technical and operational teams.
Desirable Experience
- Experience working in a laboratory, engineering, hardware, or research environment.
- Exposure to stock management activities.
- An interest in developing a career in procurement, asset management, or operations.
