Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Database Engineer with deep expertise in SAP/Sybase technologies to join our infrastructure engineering team. This role focuses purely on database infrastructure engineering without operational DBA responsibilities. The successful candidate will design, implement, and enhance our SAP/Sybase database environments, with emphasis on security and automation.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement Sybase ASE and Replication Server infrastructure solutions
- Create and maintain shell scripts and T-SQL code for automation and management tasks
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement database security best practices
- Document technical solutions for both specialist and non-specialist audiences
- Contribute to continuous improvement of database infrastructure
Mandatory Skills
- Extensive experience with Sybase ASE 16
- Proven expertise with Sybase Replication Server 16
- Strong Sybase T-SQL development skills
- Strong shell scripting (bash or ksh) skills
- Experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 8
- Fluent spoken and written English
Highly Desirable Skills
- Experience with Sybase ASE 15.7
- Experience with Sybase Replication Server 15.7
- Experience with RHEL 7 and Solaris 10
- Python 3.9+ programming skills
- Have previously implemented SAP/Sybase ASE 16.0 full-database encryption (note: NOT column encryption)
- Experience configuring external HSM keystores for ASE 16 encryption keys
