We are looking for an experienced Product Owner / Business Product Lead to support the consolidated data migration and functional scaling of closed-book insurance portfolios into the Amarta Life and Pension System (ALPS). The role will initially focus on Life, Health, and Annuity product migration and will also support the extension of the target platform to administer Bond and investment-linked products. The successful candidate will act as the bridge between business stakeholders, legacy platform teams, data migration squads, actuarial teams, compliance stakeholders, QA teams, and Amarta configuration engineers. The role requires strong ownership of requirements, backlog prioritisation, migration acceptance criteria, reconciliation logic, and business validation across complex insurance data landscapes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Product Ownership: Own and manage the product backlog for insurance data migration, platform configuration, and functional enhancement activities.
  • Target Platform Scaling: Define business requirements, data rules, product logic, schema updates, and configuration needs to extend Amarta from Life, Health, and Annuity administration into Bond product servicing.
  • Migration Mapping: Lead user stories, business rules, field mapping, acceptance criteria, and validation requirements for ETL migration from multiple legacy platforms into a single target system.
  • Agile Delivery: Prioritise epics, features, user stories, dependencies, and sprint deliverables in line with migration waves, release plans, testing cycles, and business readiness.
  • Financial and Actuarial Validation: Work with actuarial and finance teams to define reconciliation rules covering policy values, premiums, annuity calculations, bond interest schedules, charges, surrender values, and legacy product rules.
  • Data Integrity and Reconciliation: Support policy, customer, financial, document, transaction, and product-level reconciliation to ensure complete and accurate migration outcomes.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Act as the central point of coordination between business SMEs, legacy developers, Amarta engineers, QA teams, data migration teams, compliance teams, and programme leadership.
  • Governance and Compliance: Ensure requirements and acceptance criteria support UK insurance regulatory expectations, closed-book policy preservation, auditability, data protection, and operational control requirements.
  • Testing Support: Support SIT, UAT, migration rehearsal, defect triage, business validation, cutover readiness, and post-migration hypercare activities.

Required Skills and Competencies:

  • Insurance Domain Skills: Strong understanding of UK Life, Pensions, Annuities, Health, and closed-book insurance administration. Knowledge of legacy policy administration platforms and operational rules for mature / run-off books of business. Understanding of Bond or investment-linked insurance products, including premium allocation, interest / coupon cycles, surrender values, charges, policy servicing, and maturity treatment. Awareness of regulatory, compliance, data protection, audit, and policyholder outcome considerations within UK insurance operations.
  • Technical and Migration Skills: Experience in large-scale data migration, system consolidation, data mapping, ETL requirements, source-to-target mapping, data cleansing, and migration validation. Ability to define functional logic, business rules, reconciliation requirements, and exception handling for migration-heavy programmes. Hands-on experience with Agile delivery tools such as Jira, Azure DevOps, or equivalent backlog management platforms. Ability to translate complex database structures, policy rules, and backend dependencies into clear business requirements and testable acceptance criteria. Understanding of policy administration platforms, product configuration, workflow, reporting, MI, and integration dependencies.
  • Business and Communication Skills: Strong stakeholder management and communication skills across business, technology, data, actuarial, compliance, and operations teams. Ability to manage competing priorities between data remediation, platform readiness, migration delivery, and new product capability build. Clear documentation skills covering requirements, user stories, acceptance criteria, process flows, decision logs, and traceability. Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving ability, and attention to detail in regulated insurance environments. Ability to work independently in a UK client-facing delivery model while collaborating with offshore teams.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Graduate degree in Business, Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, Insurance, Finance, or a related discipline.
  • Product Owner, Business Analyst, or Business Product Lead experience in insurance technology, policy administration, transformation, or data migration programmes.
  • Prior experience in UK Life & Pensions, closed-book administration, annuity, bond, or investment product environments is strongly preferred.
  • Experience working in Agile delivery models with cross-functional teams across business, technology, testing, data, compliance, and operations.
  • Experience supporting migration rehearsal, cutover, business validation, UAT, and post-go-live stabilisation activities will be an added advantage.

Preferred Certifications:

  • Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO), Certified ScrumMaster (CSM), or equivalent Agile certification.
  • Business Analysis certification such as IIBA / CBAP / BCS Business Analysis will be preferred.
  • Insurance domain certifications such as CII, LOMA, ALMI, FLMI, or equivalent will be an added advantage.
  • ITIL Foundation or equivalent service management awareness is desirable.

Candidate Profile: The ideal candidate should be a strong Product Owner with hands-on experience in insurance platform change, data migration, and regulated delivery. They should be comfortable working with complex legacy estates, large data sets, product rules, business validation, and stakeholder groups across the UK and offshore delivery locations. The candidate must bring a practical delivery mindset, strong ownership, clear communication, and the ability to convert business and technical complexity into structured delivery outcomes.

What You Will Contribute:

  • Successful migration of closed-book insurance data from multiple legacy systems into the Amarta target platform.
  • Clear and testable business requirements for Life, Health, Annuity, and Bond product administration capabilities.
  • Improved data quality, reconciliation confidence, and migration governance.
  • Strong alignment between business SMEs, technology teams, actuarial teams, compliance stakeholders, and delivery teams.
  • Controlled delivery across backlog management, testing, cutover readiness, and post-migration stabilisation.

Why Join HCLTech: This role offers the opportunity to work on a complex UK insurance transformation programme, supporting critical policy administration, data migration, product expansion, and platform modernisation activities. The candidate will be part of HCLTech’s insurance technology and operations ecosystem, contributing to resilient, compliant, and scalable delivery for the UK Life & Pensions market.
