The IBM MQ on z/OS Administrator is critical to ensuring the seamless operation, security, and performance of messaging systems within HCLTech’s enterprise environments. This role demands deep technical expertise in IBM MQ on z/OS, supporting key business processes that underpin client success and operational efficiency. The incumbent will play a pivotal role in system administration, troubleshooting, and performance tuning, contributing directly to HCLTech’s reputation for reliability and excellence in technology delivery.
Detailed Responsibilities
- Configure, administer, and maintain IBM MQ on z/OS environments, ensuring optimal performance and reliability.
- Install, patch, and upgrade IBM MQ on z/OS, including problem determination and resolution.
- Manage SSL within the MQ environment to ensure secure data transfer and communication.
- Facilitate data transfer to and from host systems, ensuring integrity and efficiency.
- Configure security settings, define Queue Sharing Groups, and manage access controls.
- Gather, analyze, and report statistics and accounting data for performance tuning.
- Troubleshoot and optimize Message Queue applications for enhanced performance.
- Collaborate with vendors for problem/incident determination and resolution.
- Provide 24x7 on-call support, including out-of-hours change management as required.
- Utilize tools such as Dynatrace, ServiceNow, and Jira for monitoring, incident management, and project tracking.
Skill Requirements
- Proven expertise in IBM MQ administration on z/OS platforms.
- Hands-on experience with installation, configuration, patching, and troubleshooting IBM MQ on z/OS.
- Strong knowledge of SSL implementation and management in MQ environments.
- Familiarity with data transfer protocols and host system integration.
- Experience configuring security and Queue Sharing Groups in MQ.
