Reporting directly to the VP of Engineering, the successful candidate will sit in the sweet spot between R&D and Production. This is a "handsâon" role where you will turn ambitious dreams into physical reality. You will be responsible for prototyping, refining existing firmware, and bringing up new hardware designs for the next generation of soft robotic products.
Key Responsibilities
- Hardware Design & Bringâup: Designing, soldering, and testing PCBs; moving from "offâtheâshelf" component prototyping to custom, highâvolume production boards.
- Embedded Software Development: Writing and debugging firmware for ARM Cortex microcontrollers to handle complex sensor data and pneumatic control systems.
- System Interfacing: Managing communication buses (I2C, SPI, etc.) to integrate accelerometers, pressure sensors, and Bluetooth modules.
- Data Integration: Pulling together diverse data streams from wearables and medical surfaces for clinicalâgrade analysis.
Technical Requirements
The ideal candidate is an engineer who thrives in a fastâpaced environment and has a "getâitâdone" attitude.
Essential Experience
- 2+ years of commercial experience (PostâUniversity).
- Strong Embedded C programming skills.
- Direct experience with ARM Cortex architecture.
- Proven ability in PCB Design and layout.
- Handsâon lab skills: Soldering, debugging, and using oscilloscopes/logic analyzers.
- Familiarity with lowâpower wireless protocols.
Additional Skills (Highly Desirable)
- Sensors & Signal Processing: Experience with IMUs (accelerometers/gyroscopes) and pressure sensing.
- Pneumatic/Actuator Control: Knowledge of controlling smallâscale pumps, valves, or softârobotic actuators.
- Power Management: Designing for batteryâpowered wearable devices.
- Regulatory Awareness: Familiarity with ISO 13485 or IEC 60601 (Medical Device standards) is a plus, though not essential.
- Python/Scripting: For automated testing and data visualization.
