Job Purpose:

To manage and handle Energy claims within the London Market Claims team. Reporting to the Chief Claims Officer, the role is responsible for the day-to-day operation and control of the Energy claims function, ensuring claims are processed and settled in a timely and equitable manner whilst continuously striving to improve service delivery, operational efficiency, and quality standards. The successful candidate will provide technical expertise across a broad range of Energy claims, maintain strong relationships with brokers and stakeholders, and support the ongoing development of the claims team and wider business objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and oversee a portfolio of complex Energy claims within delegated authority levels.
  • Produce feedback to underwriters and management with regard to the structure of their claim issues and related risk information with the goal to improve the overall standard of underwriting in the company.
  • Demonstrate that Lloyd’s Sun Principles are being met at all times and be in a position to assist underwriters and claims adjusters to progress.
  • Ensure all claims allocated are controlled within company philosophies and SLA’s.
  • Provide departmental reports including SLA’s and metrics on a monthly / quarterly basis.
  • Be present at market meetings and conference calls when necessary.
  • Ensure customers are treated fairly at all times.
  • Ensure all complaint related issues and all such incidents are logged and concluded in accordance with company policy.
  • Practice and promote at all times Tokio Marine HCC core values, to both internal and external contacts alike.
  • Undertake any other ad hoc activities/project work required.

Skills and Experience Specification:

  • Ideally 15 years’ experience managing Marine and/or Energy claims within the London Market.
  • Ideally 5+ years’ experience mentoring, supervising, or managing a claims team.
  • Strong technical knowledge of Energy claims handling and London Market practices.
  • Excellent knowledge of ECF and Lloyd’s Claims Schemes.
  • Strong negotiation and stakeholder management skills with the ability to build effective relationships internally and externally.
  • Experience liaising with brokers, loss adjusters, lawyers, and outsourcing partners.
  • Exceptional organisational and time management skills with the ability to prioritise workloads effectively.
  • Ability to adapt quickly and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong IT literacy and proficiency with claims management systems and Microsoft Office applications.
  • ACII qualification or actively working towards completion preferred.
  • Professional and client-focused approach.
  • Strong analytical and decision-making skills.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Collaborative team player with leadership capability.
  • Proactive and solutions-oriented mindset.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage competing priorities effectively.
