HCB Solicitors Limited are recruiting for a Legal Assistant to join our Family Law team in Redditch. Fixed‑Term Contract until the end of 2026.
Main purpose: To provide administrative support to the Fee Earner within the department as well as general support to fellow colleagues within the office.
Responsibilities:
- Dealing with queries raised by clients, solicitors and other involved parties
- Provide client updates and monitor matter progression
- Opening and closing matters on the case management system compliant with the firm’s AML and quality standards and SRA regulations
- Supervised drafting of basic correspondence, forms and documents
- Submitting/registering forms and legal documents HMCTS, Legal Aid Agency
- Maintaining contact lists and calendars for fee earners
- Monitoring deadlines, manage appointments and diaries
- Preparing and submitting bills, payments and receipts, liaising with the finance team
- Handling overflow client telephone calls
- Reception cover
- Preparing and taking the banking and post
- Other duties as required to ensure the efficient running of the office
Qualifications & Experience:
- Previous work experience as family law legal assistant / secretary ideally 2+ years
- Satisfactory knowledge of day-to-day operations of a legal office
- Advanced computer literacy (word, excel, outlook)
- Working knowledge of case management software
- Proficiency in English
- Excellent administrative and organisational skills
- Ability to juggle multiple activities and work under pressure
Location: Redditch Office (Office Based role)
Hours: Mon – Fri, 09:00 – 17:15 with a one‑hour lunch break
Holiday: 26 days plus Bank Holidays
Salary: Dependent on experience
