Located in Birmingham's Edgbaston medical quarter, The Harborne Hospital offers a modern clinical environment designed around patient and colleague experience. Significant investment has been made across our cardiac service, including the introduction of advanced technologies such as Medtronic Affera and Cardiopulmonary Exercise Testing (CPET), alongside substantial investment in new equipment throughout the department.
As our service continues to grow, you'll have the opportunity to work with leading consultants, advanced technologies and a diverse range of cardiac patients across multiple specialist settings. We're looking for an experienced Senior Cardiac Physiologist to provide specialist clinical knowledge and skills across a broad range of invasive and non-invasive cardiology investigations, as well as respiratory testing services.
Working across Cardiac Services, the Cardiac Catheter Laboratories and Day Surgery, you'll play a key role in supporting patients throughout their diagnostic and treatment journey, delivering expert physiological care and contributing to consistently high clinical standards. This is a varied and rewarding position that combines technical expertise, clinical judgement and patient focused care.
You'll support a wide spectrum of invasive procedures, physiological investigations and diagnostic testing while working closely with cardiologists, nurses and multidisciplinary colleagues to achieve the best possible outcomes for patients. Our department operates between 7:30am and 9:00pm, therefore flexibility is required to support service delivery across these hours.
What you'll do:
- Provide specialist physiological support across a broad range of invasive and non-invasive cardiology investigations and respiratory testing services
- Support diagnostic and interventional procedures within the Cardiac Catheter Laboratories, delivering expert technical and clinical input throughout patient pathways
- Work across Cardiac Services, Cath Labs and Day Surgery, providing high quality care for patients undergoing diagnosis and treatment
- Monitor, analyse and communicate real time haemodynamic and physiological data to support safe and effective clinical decision making
- Contribute to service development, quality improvement initiatives and the ongoing growth of our cardiac programme
What you'll bring:
- BSc or MSc in Cardiac Physiology (or equivalent qualification)
- Significant experience within invasive cardiology, ideally gained within a cardiac catheter laboratory environment
- Experience in assessing clinical competency and supporting the development of colleagues and students
- Experience with cardiac rhythm management devices, including pacemakers, ICDs and CRT devices. Exposure to electrophysiology procedures is desirable
- HCPC, BSE, IBHRE or equivalent professional registration is desirable
