**Medical Laboratory Assistant – Haematology** **London, HCA Laboratories at Shropshire House** **Permanent, Full-time, 37.5 hours per week** **Shift pattern: 7.5-hour shifts Monday to Friday. We’re looking for a Medical Laboratory Assistant to join our Haematology team at HCA Laboratories at Shropshire House. With more than 35 years of experience delivering high quality pathology services, HCA Laboratories supports acute care across HCA Healthcare UK hospitals as well as IVF clinics, GP services, healthcare screening programmes and insurance work. Equipped with advanced analytical technology and supported by highly skilled colleagues, our laboratories provide a comprehensive diagnostic service across a broad range of pathology disciplines. As a Medical Laboratory Assistant in Haematology, you’ll be part of a collaborative and quality focused team that processes a high volume of samples and supports the delivery of accurate, responsive diagnostic services. Working alongside experienced Biomedical Scientists, you'll contribute to every stage of the laboratory pathway, from sample receipt and preparation through to analyser support and quality activities. Let us care for you and your career, the same way you do for others.** **What you’ll do:*** Receive and process haematology samples ensuring laboratory procedures are followed accurately.* Prepare samples for referral testing and storage* Support the operation and maintenance of laboratory analysers, including routine maintenance, cleaning, quality control activities, sample loading and reagent management.* Assist with stock management activities including receiving deliveries, accepting reagents, monitoring batch records and maintaining adequate laboratory supplies.* Support quality and compliance processes through sample filing, temperature monitoring, documentation management and inter laboratory comparison activities.* Work closely with Biomedical Scientists and the wider laboratory team to ensure an efficient, accurate and high quality Haematology service. **What you’ll bring:*** Previous experience working in a laboratory environment, ideally within Haematology.* Good understanding of laboratory processes, sample handling procedures and quality standards.* Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.* A flexible approach to working hours and responsibilities, including participation in shifts* Excellent attention to detail and the ability to remain organised and focused in a busy laboratory setting. **Why HCA UK?**Originally founded over 50 years ago by Dr Thomas Frist, HCA has gone on to become one of the world’s leading healthcare providers.
