Senior CSSD Technician in London

We’re looking for a Senior Sterile Services Technician to join the CSSD Department at The Princess Grace Hospital. In this key role, you will be responsible for ensuring the timely, safe and efficient provision of sterile instruments, surgical trays and medical supplies to theatres and departments across the hospital, supporting the delivery of exceptional patient care.

As a senior member of the team, you will provide day‑to‑day guidance and support to colleagues, promote best practice across the department, and contribute to maintaining a safe and compliant working environment. You will have a strong understanding of infection prevention and control principles, ensuring that all medical devices are processed to the highest standards to safeguard patient safety and support positive clinical outcomes.

What You’ll Do:

• Assist in day‑to‑day management of washing, inspection, packing, and sterilisation areas; take charge out of hours/weekends.
• Apply standards to reprocessing of invasive devices (disassembly, cleaning, disinfection, inspection, assembly, sterilisation, despatch, tracking) and ensure adherence to SOPs and quality management systems.
• Lead and support shift teams, mentor technicians/apprentices, conduct inductions, and provide ongoing training.
• Investigate complaints, non‑conformance reports (NCRs), and implement corrective actions.
• Complete hand‑overs, respond to staff/clinical queries, and participate in departmental meetings.
• Conduct regular checks on equipment performance, stock, and QC procedures; escalation issues as needed.
• Work with clinical nurse specialists, department heads, and ward representatives to select appropriate reusable devices.

What You’ll Bring:

• Previous extensive experience as a sterile services technician, ideally within a senior position.
• Understanding of Infection Control requirements in relation to patient care and medical devices.
• Understanding of QMS.
• Previous experience in attending and preparing for external auditing.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Computer literate.
