In this key role, you will be responsible for ensuring the timely, safe and efficient provision of sterile instruments, surgical trays and medical supplies to theatres and departments across the hospital, supporting the delivery of exceptional patient care.As a senior member of the team, you will provide day-to-day guidance and support to colleagues, promote best practice across the department, and contribute to maintaining a safe and compliant working environment. To us, you’ll be part of a wider team with a unique sense of purpose, one that helps improve lives on a daily basis.What you’ll do:Assist in day‑to‑day management of washing, inspection, packing, and sterilisation areas; take charge out of hours/weekendsApply standards to reprocessing of invasive devices (disassembly, cleaning, disinfection, inspection, assembly, sterilisation, despatch, tracking) and ensure adherence to SOPs and quality management systems TLead and support shift teams, mentor technicians/apprentices, conduct inductions, and provide ongoing trainingInvestigate complaints, non‑conformance reports (NCRs), and implement corrective actionsComplete hand‑overs, respond to staff/clinical queries, and participate in departmental meetingsConduct regular checks on equipment performance, stock, and QC procedures; escalate issues as neededWork with clinical nurse specialists, department heads, and ward representatives to select appropriate reusable devicesWhat you’ll bring:Previous extensive experience as a sterile services technician, ideally within a senior positionUnderstanding of Infection Control requirements in relation to patient care and medical devicesUnderstanding of QMSPrevious experience in attending and preparing for external auditingExcellent communication skillsComputer literateWhy HCA UK?Originally founded over 50 years ago by Dr Thomas Frist, HCA has gone on to become one of the world’s leading healthcare providers.
