About the Role

Kitchen Assistant at HC-One – 35 hours per week. In this role you’ll support the delivery of high‑quality, nutritious meals to residents in our care homes. Your work will demonstrate kindness, respect and dignity for each resident.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with meal preparation under the direction of the Chef or Cook.
  • Serve meals with warmth, respect, and in a timely manner.
  • Maintain cleanliness and hygiene in the kitchen – equipment, surfaces and storage areas.
  • Monitor and record food storage temperatures for fridges, freezers, and other storage units.
  • Support stock rotation and proper ingredient storage.
  • Show new team members how to safely use kitchen equipment.
  • Wash up and ensure the kitchen remains spotless, even after a busy lunch rush.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Some kitchen experience is required.
  • NVQ2 in Catering or Food Preparation, or a willingness to work towards it.
  • Strong organisational skills, keen eye for detail, and ability to follow recipes and record information accurately.
  • Patience, respect and genuine kindness when interacting with residents and colleagues.
  • Ability to recognise signs of abuse, harm or neglect and know how to act if concerns arise.
  • All colleagues must undertake safeguarding training relevant to their role.
