About the Role

At HC-One, kindness is at the heart of everything we do. We are looking for a dedicated chef who can bring their skills and passion for food into our care home kitchen. You’ll play a vital role in preparing and serving wholesome, homemade meals that not only meet nutritional needs but also bring comfort and enjoyment to our residents every day. This is a bank position as and when required, perfect for those looking to pick up extra hours.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and serve wholesome, homemade meals to residents, ensuring nutritional requirements are met and meals are presented appealingly.
  • Maintain the highest standards of food safety and kitchen practice, applying HACCP principles.
  • Participate in menu planning, showing creativity and pride in presenting nutritious dishes.

Requirements

  • You will be an experienced cook with a recognised qualification, holding an S/NVQ2 in Catering & Hospitality or Professional Cookery, along with a Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate.
  • Hold a sound understanding of Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (HACCP) and be confident in maintaining food safety and kitchen practice.
  • You should be a team player with a positive attitude, caring approach, and the ability to bring creativity to menu planning.
  • You must complete safeguarding training appropriate to your role, attend additional training in associated areas, and be able to recognise signs of abuse, harm or neglect, report concerns and, if necessary, seek escalation.
