About the role

Please note this is a part‑time vacancy of 19.25 hours per week, working 8‑2 or 9‑3. As a Laundry Assistant at HC One, Kindness will be at the core of everything you do. It touches upon every aspect of our Dementia, Nursing, Residential and Specialist care homes. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Maintaining a high standard of order/tidiness within the laundry area.
  • Washing, drying, ironing and repairing items as needed.
  • Maintaining linen stocks for day to day use and raising any issues to the Senior Housekeeper.
  • Folding/separating linen/clothes ready to be returned to rooms or redistributing clothing to correct rooms.

You will take real pride in ensuring your work is always completed to the highest standard, creating an environment that’s well maintained, making sure our residents’ lives are longer, happier and healthier.

We’re looking for someone with experience, ideally, although we’ll provide great training. You’ll also need excellent time management and organisational skills. Beyond that, it’s all about your brilliant, positive energy and natural ability to get along with people. You will be a brilliant communicator who’s as skilled at listening as giving instruction. Whenever you communicate with a resident or co‑worker, you’ll be truly considerate and kind.

Safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility, and therefore it is important that you are able to recognise the signs which may indicate possible abuse, harm or neglect in its different forms and know what to do if there are any concerns. All colleagues are required to attend safeguarding training appropriate to their role and to undertake additional training in associated areas. You also have the ability to seek appropriate advice and report concerns, including escalation if action is not taken.
