This role is based in either Edinburgh or Inverness .

Are you a commercially driven Quantity Surveyor looking to play a key role in delivering major fibre infrastructure projects?

We're looking for an experienced and proactive Quantity Surveyor to join our PMO team and support the successful delivery of our FTTP network build programme.

Reporting to the Head of PMO, you'll oversee the commercial management of fibre build projects from inception through to completion, ensuring projects are delivered within budget and in accordance with contractual requirements.

Working closely with Programme Managers, delivery teams and external partners, you'll provide commercial guidance, identify opportunities for efficiency, and help drive successful project outcomes.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong commercial and contractual expertise who enjoys working collaboratively, influencing decision-making and supporting the delivery of large-scale infrastructure projects.

  • What You'll Be Doing
  • Monitoring the commercial performance of allocated projects, including forecasting, cost tracking and cost-to-complete assessments.
  • Identifying commercial risks and opportunities, recommending corrective actions where required.
  • Preparing and managing valuations, payment applications and final accounts.
  • Reviewing, assessing and challenging quotations, variations, change requests and subcontractor submissions.
  • Managing and reviewing compensation events, early warnings and change control processes.
  • Ensuring compliance with contractual requirements and maintaining accurate commercial records.
  • Supporting the resolution of claims, disputes and contractual issues.
  • Providing commercial advice and guidance to Programme Managers, project teams and key stakeholders.
  • Preparing reports and governance information to support project decision-making.
  • Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives and commercial best practice across the build function.
  • Working collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery.
  • What You'll Need
  • Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor within telecommunications, utilities, infrastructure or civil engineering environments.
  • Strong working knowledge and practical experience of NEC forms of contract.
  • Experience managing and challenging compensation events, early warnings and change control processes.
  • A strong understanding of quantity surveying principles and commercial management practices.
  • Experience reviewing and challenging contractor applications, valuations and final accounts.
  • Strong commercial awareness with the ability to identify, assess and mitigate commercial and contractual risks.
  • Excellent analytical, negotiation and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to build effective relationships at all levels.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and commercial reporting tools.
  • A proactive and organised approach, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver high-quality outcomes in a fast-paced environment.
  • It Would Be Great If You Also Have
  • A recognised qualification in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Experience working within utility infrastructure programmes.
  • Experience working within a Programme Management Office (PMO) or programme management environment.
  • Experience supporting the delivery of fibre, telecommunications or other large-scale infrastructure build programmes.
