About This Role
Responsible for the daily management and technical leadership of the Design and Engineering team at HBK VTS. This role covers all aspects of engineering design, creation, and control within SolidWorks/ERP system. Additionally, it involves coordination of factory engineering activities. This is a hands-on role requiring interaction at all levels within HBK VTS. The role requires full time attendance at the Royston manufacturing facility.
Essential Functions And Duties
- Responsible for line management and technical leadership of the design and engineering (D&E) team and related processes.
- Prioritise and project manage the production engineering workload of the D&E team.
- Proactively coordinate with other engineering, business and project managers to provide engineering design services to the Pre-sales, Special Projects and R&D teams to agreed scope and within agreed timeframes.
- Organise within the D&E team first-line technical support to four main factory areas.
- Ensure a collaborative and positive working team culture within the D&E team members.
- Actively seek out and implement areas for continuous improvement, especially using the lean principles, to develop functioning process of good practice particularly with respect to safety.
- Responsible for engineering design release to the business – to support business and customer requirements, including: item creation via MCI, BOM creation, technical drawings, maintenance, control and operation of the SolidWorks environment.
- Conform to all regulatory and internal HBK compliance and documentation requirements.
- Responsible for product lifecycle activities such as obsolescence and technical file maintenance.
Qualifications / Experience
- Degree in Engineering Subject – Mechanical is preferred, although Electrical Engineers with a firm grasp of mechanical principles will be considered.
- At least 5 years working within a technical engineering environment.
- Commercial mindset to ensure that the financial impact of potential changes is evaluated.
- Knowledge of ISO 9000 with experience of implementing and developing quality procedures.
- Competence on IT Systems 2D/3D CAD, MS Project and Office, and MRP/ERP.
- 3 years experience of people/line management preferred.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Team player.
