We are looking for a motivated and technically curious Field Service Engineer to join our UK LDS Service team at Hottinger Brüel & Kjær (HBK). You will play a key role in maintaining, commissioning, and repairing our market‑leading LDS vibration test systems, working closely with customers across electronics, automotive, aviation, aerospace and other high‑tech industries. This is a field based role with frequent customer site visits across the UK, occasional travel to Europe (e.g., France, Spain), and periodic visits to our Royston facility. When not on customer sites, you will work from home.
Primary Responsibilities
- Commission, maintain and repair HBK LDS vibration test systems in line with company procedures.
- Conduct fault finding and diagnostics on mechanical, electrical, electronic, hydraulic and pneumatic components.
- Plan and organise customer visits based on the service schedule.
- Document all work performed through visit reports and CRM updates.
- Provide post sales support to customers, helping resolve technical issues and ensuring a positive HBK experience.
- Collaborate closely with UK and European team members to ensure excellent service delivery.
Technical Qualifications
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electronics, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent practical/apprenticeship experience.
- Ability to understand or willingness to learn mechanical, electronic, hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
- IT‑literate: Word, Excel, email, CRM systems.
- Clean driving record.
- Fluent in English (French or Spanish is a plus).
- Experience with vibration systems or prior field service work is an advantage.
Eligibility Requirement
This role involves work on secure UK and EU defence sites, so candidates will need to meet the eligibility criteria typically associated with holding UK or EU nationality.
